Patricia F. Robinson Music Studio
Ms. Robinson has been teaching in the Bedford-Stuyvesant community since she was a young girl. Her mother L. Elsie Graham founded the music school in 1930. Mrs. Robinson has expanded the music school into the largest music school in Brooklyn, teaching all instruments including; art, drama, photography and modeling.
Many of the students have won competitions (local and national) as well as appeared in commercials and movies.
As Executive Director and one of the 9 teachers of the music school, she has been able to attract many superstars and highly regarded professionals to her studio such as Leon Bates, Melba Moore, Ralph Carter and Kym Hampton. She has been able to maintain support of former students throughout the years such as Ernestine Robinson who was a student in the 1930’s and Carmen Stark who was a student in the 1940’s.
The school is currently in the process of filming its’ documentary under the direction of Peterson Grosvenor (the director/photographer of the music school).
Ms. Robinson is looking forward to expanding the music school into a larger facility to increase the schools’ band, orchestra, chorus, programs for the very young and programs for the elderly in the existing three schools in New York, Ohio and North Carolina.
